Madhya Pradesh Poised to Become India’s Next IT and Tech Hub with Major Investments and GIS-2025 Summit
Bhopal, February 6, 2025 – As Madhya Pradesh continues its push to position itself as one of India’s leading technology hubs, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav outlined a bold vision for the state’s future in the IT, ITES, and ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) sectors. During his recent address, Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is making strides towards becoming the next digital transformation hub for India, with a slew of new projects and a focus on emerging technologies.
The Global Investors Summit (GIS-2025), scheduled for February 24-25 in Bhopal, is expected to be a game-changer for the state, bringing in significant investments from major companies in the IT, ITES, and ESDM sectors. This summit will highlight the state’s potential and provide a platform for investors to explore the growing opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’s digital landscape. Madhya Pradesh has been laying the groundwork for its IT and tech sector for years. 15 IT parks and 5 IT Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have already been established, with several major projects in the pipeline, such as the Crystal IT Park 3 and 4 in Indore, a 50-acre Data Centre Park, and a 1 lakh sq ft IT Tower in Jabalpur. These developments aim to create a robust infrastructure to support both large enterprises and startups. Yadav highlighted that the state’s affordable operational costs, strong government support, and high quality of life make it an attractive destination for IT companies and tech startups. He stressed that these factors, along with the geographical advantage of the state, would provide seamless connectivity to both national and global markets. Madhya Pradesh’s six major airports and six inland container depots further ensure smooth trade and transport across regions. The Chief Minister also emphasised the state’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies as part of its Digital India Mission. Madhya Pradesh is increasingly adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Big Data, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity in its developmental plans. This forward-thinking approach, he noted, would not only help in the growth of the state’s IT industry but also attract global investors seeking cutting-edge technology-driven solutions.
In addition to infrastructure, the state is focusing on making data centres a priority, which is a critical element of India’s digital economy. The establishment of a 50-acre data centre park is poised to elevate Madhya Pradesh’s role in cloud computing and data storage, aligning with the increasing demand for such services across the country. To further bolster the state’s attractiveness as an investment destination, Madhya Pradesh’s IT, ITES, and ESDM Investment Promotion Policy 2023 offers generous incentives to investors. These include capital assistance of up to ₹30 crore for IT and ITES companies, incentives up to ₹150 crore for ESDM companies, up to ₹125 crore support for data centre investments, and a 75% discount on land costs. Additionally, there are benefits like exemption from stamp duty and registration fees, marketing assistance up to ₹10 crore, and employment assistance up to ₹15 crore for investors. Madhya Pradesh also offers significant relief in the form of electricity cost reimbursements and 100% exemption on electricity duty. This package is designed to make it an enticing proposition for both domestic and foreign investors looking to expand in India’s fast-growing tech landscape.
Looking ahead, Yadav expressed optimism that the GIS-2025 summit would be a pivotal moment in Madhya Pradesh’s transformation. With proactive government policies, strong infrastructure support, and a vision for sustainable growth, the state is poised to establish itself as a major player in India’s digital economy. For investors, the GIS-2025 summit represents an opportunity to connect with local government officials, explore cutting-edge technological initiatives, and leverage the favourable investment environment in the state. The Chief Minister concluded by emphasising that with such initiatives, Madhya Pradesh is well on its way to becoming India’s next IT and tech hub. The rapid development of infrastructure, investment incentives, and a focus on emerging technologies, coupled with the Global Investors Summit, positions Madhya Pradesh as an up-and-coming destination for tech and IT companies looking to establish a presence in India. The state’s growing IT parks, data centres, and tech towers are shaping the future of India’s digital transformation, making it an exciting time for investors and startups alike.
