Mumbai Unveils Modern Home Materials At Architectural Digest Design Show 2025

Mumbai took centre stage at the Architectural Digest Design Show 2025 as Merino Industries unveiled its “Art of Material Living” installation, presenting modern home surfaces in immersive, life-like settings. The showcase transformed conventional interior displays into fully experiential zones, where visitors could explore how materials influence emotion, flow, and comfort in contemporary homes. With innovative textures, large-scale panels, and biophilic design cues, the exhibition highlighted the growing role of thoughtfully crafted materials in shaping sustainable and human-centred urban living spaces.

Designed in collaboration with ISTO, the installation illustrated the concept of “A Home in Harmony,” blending global design inspirations with nature-infused textures and practical functionality. Each zone told a distinct story: the French Window Lounge used soft natural light and layered neutral surfaces to evoke calm, while the Dining Zone paired super-matte surfaces with everyday practicality, demonstrating how durability and aesthetic refinement can coexist in modern interiors.Merino’s commitment to material innovation was evident in its oak-inspired Wine Cellar cum Wardrobe Zone, which showcased deep-grain surfaces delivering warmth, craft, and visual appeal. The Grande Collection panels, rising to ten feet, created dramatic architectural statements that captivated both designers and visitors. These uninterrupted surfaces not only emphasised scale and texture but also reinforced the concept that modern materials can transform ordinary spaces into experiential environments.

Celebrity engagement amplified the pavilion’s visibility. Mumbai welcomed personalities including Ridhi Khosla, Shekhar Suman, Ayub Khan, and Amy Astley, Global Editorial Director of Architectural Digest, while Hyderabad saw attendance from Hameeda Sharma, Chirag Swain, Pallavi Anchuri, and Sourojit Ghosh. Their presence highlighted the exhibition’s influence as a forum where innovative materials, contemporary design thinking, and lifestyle aspirations converge.Throughout both cities, architects, interior designers, homeowners, and students engaged actively with the displays, examining textures, finishes, and practical applications. Discussions focused on how thoughtfully curated surfaces can shape user experience, emotional response, and spatial flow—a reflection of Merino’s emphasis on human-centred design.“The response in Mumbai and Hyderabad reinforces our belief that design resonates most when it feels personal,” said Mr. Manoj Lohia, Director, Merino Industries Ltd. “Visitors interacting with surfaces, imagining them in their own homes, validates our approach to creating materials that enhance comfort, emotion, and spatial harmony.”

Merino Industries’ showcase at the 2025 Architectural Digest Design Show demonstrates the increasing significance of material-led design in urban interiors. By presenting surfaces as living, experiential elements rather than static products, the brand highlighted how eco-conscious, thoughtfully designed materials can elevate homes into spaces that are not only visually striking but also emotionally and functionally engaging, supporting the evolution of sustainable, inclusive urban living.
