Over 3 Lakh New Homes Approved in Chhattisgarh Under PMAY-G

The Union Minister for Rural Development has approved the construction of over three lakh new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.

This landmark initiative is part of a larger national effort to enhance housing accessibility for rural families, ensuring their right to safe, secure, and sustainable living spaces. On his upcoming visit to Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, the Union Minister will preside over an event in Ambikapur, Surguja district, where a series of welfare measures will be inaugurated to uplift the standard of living for rural communities. The event will see the symbolic distribution of keys to beneficiaries of the PMAY-G and PM Janman Awas Yojana, marking the successful completion of their homes.

With this approval, the total number of homes sanctioned under PMAY-G in Chhattisgarh will exceed 11 lakh. This milestone underscores the commitment of the central government towards realising the vision of “Housing for All,” ensuring that even the most remote and underserved rural areas benefit from the scheme. In addition to the formal handover of keys, the Union Minister will also conduct a housewarming ceremony, or ‘Griha Pravesh,’ for 51,000 beneficiaries whose homes have been completed under the scheme. The beneficiaries will finally have a safe roof over their heads, a vital step towards improving their quality of life. Furthermore, a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony will be held to mark the commencement of construction for those starting their journey towards homeownership under the PMAY-G.
