New 135m Steel Bridge in Ropar to Connect Villages, Reduce Congestion

Ropar city has successfully completed the construction of a new steel bridge over the Sirhind Canal, marking a significant infrastructure development in the region. The 135-meter, four-lane bridge, built with an investment of Rs 52.77 crore, is currently undergoing load testing in preparation for its formal inauguration. This bridge is expected to greatly enhance traffic flow and connectivity, benefiting both residents and commuters traveling through the area.

The bridge, which is a part of Punjab’s ongoing efforts to improve regional infrastructure, will alleviate traffic congestion, particularly for those traveling from Chandigarh to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. According to Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, the bridge will not only ease traffic but also improve access to National Highway 344A for nearby villages. This enhanced access is expected to offer smoother travel for local residents and will be particularly advantageous for commuters and transporters who use this route regularly.

The new steel bridge is part of a broader initiative to upgrade the road network in Punjab, aimed at reducing travel time and improving the quality of road infrastructure. The completion of this project is anticipated to significantly reduce traffic delays, making daily commutes much easier for both locals and tourists. The bridge’s construction is part of the state’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and ensuring the smooth movement of goods and people throughout the region. Once the final rounds of testing are completed, the bridge is expected to be inaugurated soon, offering much-needed relief to the area’s congested transport routes. This project is a testament to the government’s focus on improving public infrastructure, and the benefits of the bridge will be felt by residents and travelers alike, as it will enhance overall traffic management and accessibility in the region.
