Bokaro Revenue Camps to Tackle Land Grievances and Errors

The Bokaro district administration is taking steps to address long-standing land-related issues with a series of special revenue camps. From February 18 to March 4, 2025, these three-day camps will be held across all halkas in the district. The initiative aims to resolve various land-related grievances that have been mounting during Janta Darbar and public meetings, providing much-needed relief to residents facing issues with land registration and mutation.

District Commissioner (DC) Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao announced the camp schedule, highlighting the administration’s commitment to improving the efficiency of land-related services and ensuring faster resolution of disputes. These camps come in response to the slow progress experienced with the JharBhoomi portal, which is designed to resolve land-related issues online, such as Jamabandi registration, rent receipts, mutation, and land surveys. Despite the portal’s potential, the slow resolution of such matters has prompted the administration to step in with more direct, on-the-ground action. The revenue camps aim to address a wide range of land-related issues that have been causing distress to residents. These include errors in the online Jamabandi (land record) system, delays in the processing of mutations (changes in land ownership), and problems with land transfers based on succession or partition deeds. Additionally, grievances concerning land surveys will also be addressed at the camps. DC Jadhav explained that the primary goal of these camps is to correct any discrepancies in land records, help facilitate smoother transitions of land ownership, and ensure that the land survey process is up to date.

“For many residents, the JharBhoomi portal has not been able to resolve their issues effectively. This has resulted in a backlog of land-related grievances that need immediate attention,” said DC Jadhav. “The revenue camps will provide an opportunity for individuals to directly engage with officials and get their issues addressed promptly.” For Bokaro residents, this initiative is a ray of hope, as land-related issues are often deeply rooted and complex, with many people waiting for years to see progress. With the new camps, residents will have the chance to meet with revenue officers, submit their grievances, and get the much-needed assistance to resolve issues that have often been delayed or left unresolved due to bureaucratic hurdles.

The initiative has been well received by the people of Bokaro, many of whom have faced significant delays in getting their land records updated. Local resident Rajesh Kumar shared his experience, saying, “I’ve been trying to get my mutation processed for months, but the online system hasn’t been much help. I’m hopeful that these revenue camps will finally solve the issue.” The revenue camps will also be an opportunity to address the gaps in the JharBhoomi portal’s functionality. As many residents have expressed frustration over the technical glitches and delays, the camps will allow officials to directly resolve issues that could not be handled online. This direct intervention from the district administration is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of the land-related services, benefiting a large number of residents.

In a district like Bokaro, where the demand for land and property is growing due to industrial development, it’s crucial to maintain accurate and up-to-date land records. These revenue camps are a step toward ensuring that the administrative process is more accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the public. By resolving land-related grievances more effectively, the district hopes to bring much-needed relief to its residents and provide a more efficient approach to managing land ownership matters in the future. As the camps get underway, residents are encouraged to make use of this opportunity to address any land-related issues they have faced. The administration’s efforts in ensuring a smoother and more accessible process for resolving these concerns are likely to have a significant impact on the local community, paving the way for a more transparent and efficient land record system in the future.
