Mumbai Government Approves Thirty Four Acre Kamatipura Redevelopment Tenants Receive Two BHK Homes
MLA Patel highlighted the broader significance of the redevelopment, stating, “This long-awaited project is transforming Kamatipura into a safer, more liveable neighbourhood. With the support of MHADA and the state government, we are building a future that balances development with community needs.” Urban planners note that such cluster redevelopments can significantly improve public health, mobility, and access to urban amenities in high-density areas. The plan envisions high-rise rehabilitation and sale towers, with rehab buildings rising to 57 storeys and sale towers extending up to 78 storeys. Currently, Kamatipura hosts approximately 800 ageing structures, many in unsafe conditions. The redevelopment model aims to optimise land use vertically, enhancing urban density management while delivering green, inclusive housing.
