India’s railway modernisation programme is entering a deeper infrastructure expansion phase under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, with new rail corridors, freight connectivity upgrades and multimodal logistics integration increasingly reshaping the country’s industrial and urban development landscape. The large-scale railway expansion initiative is being positioned as a key pillar in India’s broader infrastructure transition, aimed at improving freight movement efficiency, reducing logistics costs and strengthening regional economic connectivity.
