Underlying demand for industrial slag remained firm as national cement dispatches expanded by an estimated 6 to 7 per cent across the mid-year quarter. Because supplementary cementitious materials dramatically reduce the embodied carbon of structural foundation works, public procurement policies have increasingly mandated their integration into high-volume urban projects. Urban planners point out that incorporating industrial waste streams into mass infrastructure buildouts reduces land extraction pressure while extending the operational lifespan of bridges, metro corridors, and coastal protection barriers against chemical weathering.
