Hitachi Construction Machinery Unveils LANDCROS Brand For Global Transition

Hitachi Construction Machinery has announced a sweeping rebrand to LANDCROS, marking a transformative step in its 75-year legacy as a global leader in construction and mining equipment. The new identity, effective from April 2027, signifies the company’s shift from being a traditional equipment manufacturer to a provider of intelligent, connected, and sustainable solutions for the built environment.

The LANDCROS identity reflects Hitachi’s renewed focus on technological innovation, sustainability, and customer collaboration. According to company representatives, the brand name combines “LAND”  representing the creation of thriving cities and landscapes  with “CROS”, derived from Customer, Reliable, Open, and Solutions. Together, they express the firm’s mission to co-create smarter, more efficient, and environmentally conscious infrastructure systems.
A senior executive from Hitachi’s Oceania division said the rebrand demonstrates the company’s confidence in a more technology-driven and collaborative future. “The global construction and mining industries are evolving rapidly. LANDCROS embodies our readiness to support this transition through innovation, digitalisation, and sustainable operations,” the official said.

The rebrand will roll out progressively across all markets and facilities, starting with regions in Asia-Pacific. Local subsidiaries, including Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia, will adopt the new name through a phased integration process, while ongoing partnerships  such as those with CablePrice (New Zealand)  will ensure business continuity and customer support.Industry observers view the move as a strategic evolution, aligning with growing global demand for sustainable, smart equipment that reduces environmental impact and improves operational efficiency. “Manufacturers are reimagining their role in the energy transition. By embracing a sustainability-focused identity, Hitachi is signalling that the era of heavy machinery must also be an era of low carbon and high intelligence,” said an industry expert.

Hitachi confirmed that its manufacturing, design, engineering, and after-sales support operations will continue from Japan, maintaining the reliability and quality associated with its legacy. The company will also continue its collaboration with Hitachi Ltd in digital technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) applications  a move expected to strengthen its footprint in connected equipment and smart mining ecosystems. The full rebranding process, including visual identity updates and product transitions, will conclude by April 2028. Dual branding will be used during the interim to ensure clarity across markets. As the construction and mining industries move toward more sustainable models, Hitachi’s LANDCROS identity positions it as a future-ready player  blending Japanese engineering excellence with global ambitions for smarter, cleaner, and more resilient infrastructure.
