India Cement Recovery Depends On Construction Momentum
While market participants anticipate stronger demand later in the financial year, analysts say the pace of recovery will depend on infrastructure execution, housing activity and broader economic conditions across the country.Industry assessments indicate that cement consumption lost momentum during the opening months of FY27 after multiple disruptions affected construction schedules. Extended heatwaves, labour shortages in several regions, intermittent rainfall and delays in project execution reduced demand from both public and private construction. These factors have slowed activity across urban expansion projects as well as rural housing markets, limiting the industry’s ability to sustain earlier price increases.
