Yadadri Nayeem Properties Raise Fresh Land Record Questions

YADADRI: A registration dispute in Toopranpet has exposed a gap between government notifications and online land records for properties linked to slain gangster Nayeem. The case involves 5.5 acres that officials added to the prohibited-properties database after a registration attempt. Another parcel of nearly 40 acres remains under scrutiny, raising wider questions about how consistently restricted land is recorded and protected.

The government had ordered 327 properties associated with Nayeem to be brought under Section 22A(1)(e) of the Registration Act, according to multiple reports published on September 22. The properties are spread across Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and several other Telangana districts. The current dispute centres on whether the government’s notification has been fully reflected in the registration database. The immediate issue emerged at the Choutuppal registration office when applicants sought registration of plots in Toopranpet. The land covers about 5.5 acres across survey numbers 13A and 14. While the site is reportedly being used as vacant plots, revenue records describe it as agricultural land. Registration was not allowed because of cases associated with the land, even though the applicants reportedly found that the parcels were not visible in the prohibited-property database. The matter was subsequently taken up with the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration. District revenue officials then added details of the 5.5 acres to the online prohibited list early on Sunday, according to reports. The timing has prompted questions about why the parcels were not visible earlier if they were already covered by the government’s restrictions.

The larger concern involves another parcel of nearly 40 acres in Toopranpet. Reports indicate that its details were not uploaded in the same manner and instead appeared under the court-cases section of the prohibited-property system. Claims about investigation-agency clearances and possible transfers remain matters requiring official verification. There is currently no established public evidence that the land was unlawfully transferred. The issue is significant beyond the individual properties. Telangana’s land-record systems are intended to provide citizens with transparent information for property transactions. The district administration itself identifies maintaining and updating revenue records as a core responsibility, while its land-record services direct citizens towards official digital record. There is also a documented legal history around Nayeem-linked properties. In a 2024 Telangana High Court case, the court recorded that properties associated with Nayeem had previously been communicated for inclusion in the Section 22A prohibited list. The judgment also examined the procedure through which such lists should reach registration authorities.

For buyers and landowners, the Toopranpet episode highlights a practical risk: a government restriction and its digital reflection must remain aligned. Any mismatch can create uncertainty for legitimate transactions while potentially weakening safeguards around disputed land. The immediate requirement is therefore clear record reconciliation. The 327-property notification, district records and the online prohibited database need to be checked against one another. Such verification would provide greater certainty for citizens, reduce transaction disputes and strengthen accountability in Telangana’s rapidly changing peri-urban land markets.
