Tishman Speyer India Leadership Shifts Toward Expansion

Tishman Speyer has appointed a new Managing Director and Regional Director for India, bringing an experienced real estate executive into a role linked to the company’s next phase of growth. Based in Mumbai, the appointment comes as the firm expands its Indian portfolio across office and mixed-use development, putting greater attention on how new investment translates into durable urban infrastructure and employment centres.

The new regional head brings nearly three decades of experience spanning real estate development, investment, corporate management and capital markets. Before joining the global property company, the executive led Bombay Realty and previously held senior positions at Brookfield Properties, Portman Holdings, JLL and Clark Construction. The career has included work across India, Singapore and the United States, covering development and management of residential, commercial and mixed-use assets. The appointment also follows a wider change in Tishman Speyer’s regional leadership structure. The India head will report to the company’s Global Head of Growth, a position created earlier in 2026. The reporting arrangement indicates that India is being considered within a broader expansion strategy rather than as a standalone country operation.

Tishman Speyer entered India in 2006 and says it has developed about 5 million sq ft of mixed-use projects in the country. Its current pipeline includes a commercial and IT development in Pune and The Cube office project in Chennai’s FinTech City. The company is also development manager for the Million Minds project in Ahmedabad, a 1.2 million sq ft office and technology development. For Indian cities, however, a larger development pipeline brings questions beyond investment volumes and commercial absorption. New office districts can influence commuting patterns, housing demand, public transport use, road capacity and pressure on water, drainage and electricity networks. The quality of these outcomes depends on whether private development progresses alongside adequate civic infrastructure.

The Chennai project is particularly relevant in this context. The planned office development sits within FinTech City, an emerging employment district where the success of commercial expansion will also depend on connectivity and supporting urban services. The Tishman Speyer India leadership change therefore comes at a point when institutional real estate is increasingly moving beyond individual projects towards larger urban development platforms. The next phase will show whether fresh capital and experienced leadership can support growth while remaining aligned with efficient land use, resilient infrastructure and the everyday needs of the cities in which these assets are built.
