India Fertiliser Costs Decline Amid Global Supply Shift
Industry experts caution, however, that global fertiliser markets remain vulnerable to geopolitical risks, energy price fluctuations and export restrictions imposed by producing nations. Although current trends are favourable, procurement strategies will continue to require diversification to reduce dependence on a limited number of overseas suppliers and minimise exposure to future market shocks. The changing market also renews discussion around India’s long-term fertiliser strategy. Experts argue that improving domestic production efficiency, promoting balanced nutrient use and encouraging alternative soil nutrition methods can reduce import dependence over time. Greater adoption of bio-fertilisers, precision farming technologies and improved soil health management could complement conventional fertilisers while supporting environmental sustainability.
